Greenland – Sundowner with icebergs

Huge icebergs break off the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier and drift on the Kangia Icefjord towards Disko Bay. Since the bottom at the mouth of the Kangia is higher than the river bed, the icebergs, which are often the size of several cruise ships, do not make it into Disko Bay. Then they bob around there until they have melted enough to allow themselves to be drifted from there into the Disko Bay. Then they begin their journey north along the Greenland coast. At some point, currents and winds pull them west and the largest even make it along the Canadian east coast to the USA.

On a boat trip late evening there were good opportunities to take sundowner photos.
