Lascaux IV is a precise facsimile replica of the Grotte de Lascaux, which is no longer open to the public – the heavy flow of tourists had caused the temperature and humidity levels to fluctuate too much. A replica accurate to the millimetre was therefore created.
Visitors enter via the reception hall designed by the architectural firm Snøhetta.
Photography is not permitted inside the cave itself.
However, this ban does not apply to the entrance area.
